Apple guy told me that I am welcomed to run commands to test the thermal of 13” and 15” mbp in store. What commands do you recommend?

For the 13":
yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null &

For the 15"
yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null &

When you are done:
killall yes

For the 13":
yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null &

For the 15"
yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null &

When you are done:
killall yes

Looks funny. What will happen when I do that?

Wear those “mad maxl” biker gloves and test the touchbar with your knuckles
(mad max are 1980 movies)

- It will fully load the CPU. Though twice the number of instances is needed. One per thread, so 8 for 13" and 12 for 15".

You want to stress test a system but don't know how to do it and are asking the online community to give you random commands to potentially brick a machine you probably won't even buy? This is one of those 'if you don't know how to do it you probably shouldn't be doing it' sort of scenarios. You won't even understand what you're looking at, and if you did, you wouldn't be here asking for said commands.

What do you want to achieve? It's already established that mbp 2018 throttle, especially with top cpus. Unless you want to feel how warm it will be and hear how loud it is - there is no point in such test. Test your usual workload if you want to know if it will throttle for you or not.

That is exactly what I want to test. An Apple employee suggested me to stress test the machines at the store before making a purchase decision.

I almost spat out my coffee reading this thread! Funniest, most comical thread in a long while :D :D :D
