from people that have seen you with your Mac? Whether it's in public, at home, etc....

This one kid keeps trying to tell me that PC is better b/c he thinks that Mac has no "right click" feature. :D

my pb had a nice big/bright screen....
Others are impressed with my iMac thats the screen is the computer...

Most people are jealous and tell me they wish they "could own one too, but can't use one because of my job". Then they tell me its because they need to run Word. :)

I haven't really gotten any comments, and I have macs openly on display all the time. I have three in my clinic: an iMac at the front desk, another for the billing lady (which you can only see through a window), and my MBP that I use in the exam room. Man I love my MBP. I have a big MP at home, but fewer people see that one.

I dunno, seems like people don't really care. But one thing is for sure, I would be completely lost without OS X.

People: "That's your computer?!?!?!?!?"

Me: "Yeah, I got it used, almost half off"
Then I transition into a story about waking up at 4 A.M. one day to get it.

Then they stare at me like I've recently escaped from an asylum.

I chuckle and leave.

Usually people are just amazed at how fast my MacBook is. And also how cheap is was. For there price Macs have great features. All the programs that come with it from the factory. People just cannot believe iLife is complementary.

them; Is that your computer?
me; Yep
them; awesome! I bet it cost you an small fortune, coz Macs are expensive
me; ah yeah, wasn't too bad... $1500...
*they almost fall off their chair*
*recovery*
them; wow, thats good. It can't be too fast though, for that kind of price
(if they are computer literate;)
me; 1.83GHz Core Duo fast enough for you?
*they look saddened, i still haven't worked out if it is shame that they can't mock it, or regret that they bought anything else*
them; Alright, what can it do?
*shows them Front Row and Dashboard*
them; How much did you say they were?

I've converted four people just by showing them Front Row and Dashboard. I haven't even shown them Expose yet :D

I started using my macbook at school a few months ago (9 ish) and people were laughing, telling me how bad macs are. Now three people who sit next to me in different classes, and watch me use it every lesson have switched :)

I always get compliments on how the computer looks.
its a 15" PB and it still looks sleek and sexy compared to any new tripped out PC laptop.

Sometimes people ask me if I am a designer or a music student...

Occasionally I get the " but you cant do XYZ on it" comment.

Rarely I get the " you paid too much $$$$$ for it"

I just have switched a long time Windows die hard to Macs... 24 of them to be precise... : ) , and now my entire department is thinking of switching over due to the improved secutity and ease of use.

Since my iMac stays at home, not too many people get to see it, but whenever I tell people that I use a mac, they usually scoff and say "too bad you can't do too much with it!" or something along those lines. I try not to push the role of the smug Mac user because that's caused trouble before, and nobody wants to hear that. What's fun is when someone first meets me in a computer class and they see what "wonders" I can do on XP, and then they're shocked when they find out I don't even use XP.

"Nice Macbook Pro, do you really think you're *better* than PC users like the guy in the commercial?"

My response: "Truthfully? Yes, I do."

Class!

I had my 24" iMac delivered to my old job when I bought it. My former boss refused to say anything good about macs (he was a stubborn moron), the two younger guys (under 35) were super jealous, and the older guy (60 or so) in the office just couldn't understand it. He seriously could not understand that the iMac was the computer, not just a monitor. This coming from a guy that worked on a computer every day for the last 15 or so years.

They're so common now that no one really says anything anymore. :(

Completely different to the reaction whipping out a TiBook in a public place would've gotten you when they were first released. ;)

"Nice Macbook Pro, do you really think you're *better* than PC users like the guy in the commercial?"

My response: "Truthfully? Yes, I do."
My response would be: "Um, those aren't Mac and PC users in the commercials. They are actually a Mac and a PC, just personified. That's why they say "I'm a Mac. And I'm a PC." Not "I'm a Mac user. And I'm a PC user." If you can't get that, maybe you deserve your PC. Bill Gates didn't get it either." ;)

Well, around my friends, it's a hit. :) Front Row is probably the most "ooh-ahh" thing, along with Dashboard. The whole experience (Dock, Exposé, "Cool AIM" or iChat, etc.) really gets them though. Every one of my friends wants a Mac (from seeing mine and listening to me) and are attempting to convince their parents to get one as the next computer.

Around adults, it either goes unnoticed or extremely praised. :) My dad's friend works for an ISP, I think, and his first reaction on seeing the iMac was "They are so much better than PCs".
