What connector?

On the right is Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) connector but what is the smaller on the left please? It is part of a small endoscope system I bought, which stated it was for iOS hoping to connect it to my iPhone 12 mini.
Maybe need an adapter?

A small endoscope then there is an adapter taking the Micro USB up to a standard USB.

No, since the connector on the other end of your cable is USB-C. You need a Lightning (male) to USB-C (female) adapter.

Does the manufacturer of the endoscope provide (or recommend) an app to interface with the device?

For the software, check in the user guide for that endscope.
If it is sold as compatible with iOS, then there should be an app that is provided, or recommended.
There may also be support information at a web site for that endoscope?

The endoscope, hard wired into it so I need an iPhone (Lightening) connector that I can plug the Micro USB into.

I have a feeling it's only for OS and not iOS but I'll try.
