What converter cable is necessary for connecting an Apple LCD to a new MBP?

what converter cable would i need? just a mini-display to dvi? or something else?

Wow, so MiniDisplayPort exists merely to be a compact fixture on a laptop, huh? That's nice and all (I really do appreciate its utility in being able to output VGA/DVI/Dual-DVI/HDMI...), but, um... an expensive dongle is required for any of these! I am really surprised at least a VGI or DVI dongle doesn't ship with either the Apple video or computer. That just seems malicious. Or at least something that will send a lot of people scrambling, confused, back to the Best Buy or Apple Store when they can't figure out why their teenage son's MacBook won't connect to their TV or bigger computer monitor like they thought it would.

Make sure you're getting the DVI-D adapter if that's what you need. Not all adapters are created equal.

it is my understanding that the silver apple cinema displays use dvi-d. can anyone else back me up on this?
