What could I swap my Macbook late 2008 for ?

I have a Macbook late 2008, 13" and I paid for it a little over £1000, and I want to sell it, but now I observed its value dropped to a half for a used one. Than, I'd like to swap it for an item whose value was initially similar but also lost value over time.

I don't usually buy such expensive items, so not many things come to mind, can I have some ideas please ?

just a few things come to my mind:
- a smartphone ? - I dont know any whose value was initially the same
- a car ? - NO cause it has many other costs
- a road/speed bycicle - yes, but I need to know more, and avoid buying a stolen one
- an infrared video camera - yes, fantasizing a little bit..
- household items ? - yes, I need ideas.. (a £1000 fridge is not useful to me.)

You'll be lucky to get £300 for that model. Even the 2010 ones are down at between £4-500.

If you can get £500 bite their hand off....
