Ok so the computer my friend has suddenly stopped working off the battery. There’s an “X” on the battery icon, and the power plug doesn’t light up anymore. This is a battery issue right???? So replace the battery and it should be good? It was bought in late 07 I believe.

Make sure your battery is properly seated, then read the info on troubleshooting MagSafe adapters and resetting the SMC at the bottom of the CHARGING section in the following link. If that doesn't help, you may need a new battery. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:
