What could this possibly be behind the search box? I'm unable to discover in the code what it is. It is extremely strange. :confused:

Haha no sorry bad wording :) That is a screenshot of the stuff around the search box. It is a green background not a border :) It's the white rectangle thingy that is vertical.
 
My first guess would be background image as well, set using the background css property. Background images are not generally selectable. Use Firebug or Web developer toolbar for Firefox to have a look at their css and see if they have applied a background image to the search form.
