japan. their cars last, and usually are cheaper than american cars (which i won't buy due to various reasons). when i get a car, i'm getting one fresh from japan.

Japan, by a pretty wide margin. Not my opinion. I work for a very large extended warranty company.

i personally think Germany, look at the car makes that come from there Audi, BMW, Mercedes etc these are all very reliable cars

German and japenesse cars are great, but I put my vote in for Japan (Toyota, anyone?)

My first car is going to a be a 1990 Toyota pickup with about 215,000 miles on it. It's had a replaced Radiator and water pump (Turns out it wasn't the radiator that lead to the overheating issues.) But that's it. I expect it to hit 300k easily.

I think Italy should have had it's own option.

My Alfa Romeo never broke down.
I've seen more BMWs at the side of the road than Alfas.

Sorry I forgot about Italy.

update: "Thank you" to the Moderator that added in Italy!

Volvo were great for us for many years. Our Triumph Spitfire, even though it's a classic sports car, is going very well indeed.

Honda all the way for me...

although i'm now looking into a Toyota because my Civic has lasted so long that i'm tired of it. :p

seriously, though...i had two american-made cars (and my family has had quite a few over the years) and they just didn't hold up, interior-wise or under the hood. my parents now have two Honda Civics because they were so inpressed with mine.

however, to each his own. :)

Pfft. America makes the best cars. Everyone knows that.

Best movies, best cars, best computers, ad nauseam. But Germany makes the best pornos.

Japanese Cars

Japanese cars are the best because they last longer with fewer problems than any of the others. Except that my old 1973 International Scout II still runs and the mechanics are always trying to by it off of me.

Japan definitely makes the most reliable cars on the market, however they're not always the most powerful, striking or cool cars. They will, however, never break down. :p

German cars tend to be fast, fun and luxurious, with not quite as reliable a track record as Japanese cars.

American, British and Russian (Lada? lol) cars are pretty weak as far as reliability goes.

From what I've read Korean cars (namely, Hyundai, moreso than Kia) have made huge strides in quality and luxury in recent years. Hell, the hyundai Veracruz just beat a lexus in a motor trend head-to-head.
