Hi there,

I want to buy a cover for my MBP 15", I was looking around and found the incase and the speck, but some say if you have the incase you can't open your screen for more than 90 degrees, which would be a big issue to me..

There's already a post about the incase vs speck here;

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1159616/

but it doesn't tell anything about the screen angle,

hope you guys can help me out

People have been telling you porky-pies. I've got a black Speck for my 15" 2010 MBP and it opens up all the way as if the case wasn't on, ~130º.

As far as which you should go for, they both have pretty much the same look and feel but I do believe the InCase had their company name embossed on the lid but that may have changed since I last looked (about 12 months ago).

ok, then i'll buy the speck, the incase was having this problem,

thx

I'd wait for more feedback or try youtubing some reviews but I can't believe the InCase would only open to 90º. Sounds quite ridiculous to me (and many others). So if you prefer the InCase, don't pull the trigger (yet). :)

lol!! reading comprehension FTMFW!!!

@op I had the incase before and everytime i open/close the lid I feel like it clips the hinge as it makes a popping sound, so I returned it and got a SPECK no problem here since.. 2010 15" here..

be aware though, that the Speck does add a bit of weight to the mbp. I was surprised to find it's noticeably heavier, although I also feel it's a small price to pay for protection from scratches and knocks.

I have the Incase one and there is no problem opening it over 90. I just purchased the one that was in stock, but have had no issues.

I haven't had any problems with the monitor opening clear up, but my incase doesn't stay on too well. It seems like the little tabs that are supposed to hold it in place are just a little too small.

Not a big deal but kind of annoying.

You're joking right? It's like 1 ounce or less.

i was gonna say the same thing... if that case is that heavy, you best get off the couch and start carrying something heavier other than your spoon and fork...:apple:

I have the Incase on my 15" MBP. The lid opens all the way without any popping noises.

I went with the Incase due to it having double the ventilation holes on the bottom vs the Speck. It's been a great case thus far.

17 Oz, compared to their website. Compared to the weight of the Macbook Pro I have which is 5.6lb. So it adds almost a 5th of the weight of the Macbook Pro again.

i hope youre not really living up to your nickname...:D

Show me where it says I have trouble lifting or carrying it? All I said was that the Speck adds 20% to the weight of the MBP, which is noticeable. I would imagine other cases weigh a similar amount.
