Apple's website only mentions iPhone 4 bring compatible with iMovie for iPhone however the iPhone 3GS is probably powerful enough to run the app and it also can record video. Is iMovie for iPhone exclusive to iPhone 4 or will it also work on iPhone 3GS?

I suspect the A4 chip is critical to this. It's not just "faster." Apple designed it with very specific uses in mind. "iMovie acceleration" may well be one of those things.

I also think this will be an iPhone 4/iPad app only.

ReelDirector music access

If they are not going to give us 3Gs users iMovie, I hope they at least give ReelDirector access to the iPod library so we don't have to keep doing the goofy import workaround.

..

It doesn't work on 3GS, I emailed Steve jobs and he responded like this:
Nope, sorry.

Dear Mr Jobs,

Whilst i appreciate that you must be very busy right now, I was wondering if you could answer my question. Will the new iMovies app work on the iPhone 3GS?
Thanks

Thank you so much for the info. That is a shame that it won't work on iPhone 3GS.
