What do I do about error code -36?

I have borrowed a CD from my school to download my history textbook. For some reason one .pdf file won't copy onto my computer. Everytime I try to copy what I need when it gets to copying the .pdf file it gives me an error message "error code -36 the file could not be read" then it give me error code -43. I don't understand why, and I would really appreciate any help. Thank You!
