What do I do next?

Hi, I will be installing more ram and a SSD into my 2009 mid MacBook Pro.

After I put in the SSD, (I want to do a clean install) what do I do next? How do I install OSX mavericks onto it? Do I have to first install the restore disk? I'm assuming its snow leopard? (Not my laptop originally) What if I don't have the original restore CD, then what?
