Time for a new computer????

Have you tried an NVRAM reset?

Turn off the computer, then turn it on.

Immediately after the chime, hold CMD/Option/P/R until it turns off then chimes again.

I just did that. But when it first restarted there were artifacts moving around in a wave. I had to shut it off and then power back on to do this.

Is this basically one of those fried motherboards due to the heat scenarios? How long do you think I could get out of this machine before its inoperable?
