What are the steps or procedures into getting an iPhone in Canada.
Im alreadly on rogers so i have a sim.
I can go to the States to get iPhone.

but as for upgrading to the newest firmware and unlocking/jailbreaking it what will i have to do?
also is there a way to disable using EDGE so i dont get killed for data?

Buy one from E-Bay

Get one from E-Bay and unlock, jailbreak with Ziphone and enjoy...
You can disable Edge anytime.

Have fun

If you live in a big city, you don't have to use eBay. If you're in Toronto, there are countless stores that sell it, and they'll sell it to you jailbroken and unlocked.

Or, you can just go to the states and get one like I did.
That is, if you live close to the border.

My iphone cost me $430 with state tax. Then I smuggled it into Canada to avoid customs... (Something I wouldn't recommend.) Its not worth getting caught and red-flagged.

I've brought 3 back from the States. the chances of being nailed are pretty slim. If you want to be honest and declare it, the duty on $399 is about $40.

I went on craigslist on a Monday, found a new unlocked one for a decent price being advertised in my city, meet up with the guy and had the phone synced and functional on Wednesday. So I recommend craigslist because it localizes things.
