I am looking at a Mac system to play movies on my tv. I know that I will need appletv, a desktop mac, probably an Imac and a large external drive. I will ue toast to burn movies to the drive. Do I need wireless internet for the movie streaming? Can appletv stream hulu or similar sites? What am I missing? Thanks.

Wow, that's crazy. Grab an iMac to have a computer (hint: it IS a desktop Mac), an Apple TV (you don't actually need one), an external hard drive, and an AirPort Extreme base station to stream movies from the external hard drive connected to your iMac and hosting your iTunes library to the Apple TV (only if you get one).

You could also just hook the iMac up to a TV and use Front Row.
