What do I use to open a .wmv file?

New to Apple...have tried to open files emailed to me. I get a message saying that this is a binary file,and the default program to open it is Text.Edit
But all I get is gibberish....help! Linda

Or you could try VLC. That plays any video and audio I've thrown at it for the past few years.

Flip4Mac is a plugin (?) for Quicktime. VLC is a totally separate program. Perian also does the trick, it's another plugin and adds more functionality than Flip4Mac.

then set the .wmv file to always open with WMV Player instead of QuickTime Player to get a WMV icon.
