New to Apple...have tried to open files emailed to me. I get a message saying that this is a binary file,and the default program to open it is Text.Edit
But all I get is gibberish....help! Linda
 
Or you could try VLC. That plays any video and audio I've thrown at it for the past few years.

Flip4Mac is a plugin (?) for Quicktime. VLC is a totally separate program. Perian also does the trick, it's another plugin and adds more functionality than Flip4Mac.
