Texas, unfortunately.
Wasteland this if it's already been posted:

With all the people returning defective Macbooks and MBP's, don't you wonder what they do EXACTLY with the defective computers? do they strip them of the parts and use them in new ones? do they sell them at "a discount"? Or do they just throw it away all together? (That last one would change my veiw on Apple: I'm a treehugger:) )

Or is there something I'm not being told?:D

Wherever possible they'll spruce them up, replace the defective parts, and offer them for sale (with a discount) through the online refurb store.
You forgot one step. Before that, they send them to iGary for verification.

Holy crap...

Yeah interesting site, although I read a couple of reports suggesting Greenpeace had hyped a few of the finding a little... but raises the same issues all manufacturers have, not just Apple. Just a popular target at the moment.

yeah, "e-waste" is a pretty serious problem in many third-world countries. they have whole landfills filled with logicboards, cell phones, etc. not trying to sound like a crazy-environmentalist but these materials are pretty nasty contaminants...*sigh*
