Personally this is what I have so far, what do you guys think about the new iPhone X?

The good:

- OLED display with HDR10 and Dolby Vision and higher resolution.
- Better battery life.
- Open standard wireless charging.
- Galileo satellite navigation support.
- Looks like it has an exceptionally good camera with 4K60 support.
- Bluetooth 5.
- Fast charging.

The bad:

- The pricing is obscene, especially in the U.K. and Europe.
- No 120Hz VRR display support like in the new iPad? Very weird how it's not been included.
- I'm really not convinced by FaceID, scanning my face to pay for stuff? Give me TouchID.
- That Emoji stuff was painfully cringeworthy.

- But the worst thing of all, that notch when viewing video and the rounded display corners. Why couldn't they black out the top bar for when viewing video? I hope they see sense and change that. I want a rectangle with square corners to watch video, not curves that obstruct some of the view.

I'll still buy it but with this price I'm going to start giving serious thought to competing phones.

Unsure:
- How will that notch affect viewing content? Will it interfere with movies/pictures/games?

I pretty much am in favor of everything that was introduced today. The downsides is certainly the more expensive price point and the limited colors. I would have expected at least three color options, when we were given two. But ultimately, I was pleased with what I saw and I look forward to upgrading.

The notch. Just no. I could deal if it were a separate color and obviously two tiny ear like bars at the top but as part of the actual content like the video today. No.

I do like the camera, the display looks nice, Facial recognition and animojis (can people using other phones receive animojis, I know they can't send them).

Lack of touch ID is also a minus.

It can be switched in/out of full screen mode by double tapping on the screen. Check out the 2:54 mark:

Dislike:

faceID
price
front camera bar
rear camera hump
SIZE (it's too big, I want an iphone SE sized full screen iphone)
wireless charging (this is stupid, can't use iphone while it's charging where as you can if it's plugged in, we need over the air charging)

Here's a hands-on video from today where he double taps the screen and it removes it from the notch. Not sure if this will be in every video app but I think it's probably likely.

When designing for iPhone X, you must ensure that layouts fill the screen and aren't obscured by the device's rounded corners, sensor housing, or the indicator for accessing the Home screen.

The HIGs all show embracing it:

No touchid

Had they offered the x with a touchid , I'd get it. Wonderful looking device , though I distched the S8 after a week cause of facial recognition, it's not how well it does it, it's the awkward and in natural user experience of looking at your phone as though it's a mirror ..... I went back to the iPhone just got the great experience of touchid

And that's a lot of money for a rev a product

I really just dislike the price, but I understand why it is so high. But no way I am paying that price, so a new 6S it is for me now, to replace my 4S.

I love the new screen and overall design, and I don't mind the notch nor lack of TouchID (*if* FaceID is as good as they made it up to be, but I have good faith in their approach). I also like OIS on both cameras, and the fact that it has two cameras on a smaller than the Plus sized model.
I really like that it has wireless charging from the widest avilable standard, which means that it will surely become the defacto standard soon, as all the major phone players are supporting it with products now, which will mean wireless charging *everywhere* in a few years, which is *awesome*!
Like the even stronger glass.

I thought the Animoji part of the keynote was hilarious... ^_^ I will likely never use it, but hey, it is pretty nicely done at least. And we've DEFINITELY seen WAY more cringy presentations from Apple - Remember the keynote where Apple Music was introduced? Oh mean, that was pure hell all the way through.

The only thing I really dislike and think is a step back, is the FaceID- if you followed the reports prior to release, you'll know that the FaceID was "Plan B", as Apple would've preferred to have TouchID integrated within the display but couldn't get the tech perfected in time. While this isn't a deal breaker for me, there's simply no way it can be as convenient as TouchID where I can have the phone effortlessly unlocked before it's even out of my pocket.

My one other gripe is the base model having 64GB of storage instead of 128GB. Smart move on Apple's part I suppose as they realize most will want/need more than 64GB and will be willing to shell out for the 256, but also annoying.

Besides that I love the phone and look forward to it.

(-)Price. If I change my phone every year then I have to consider it's selling price next year. I like thinking forward but if I do get this phone for myself then I have to promise myself not to update next year. And promises are made to be broken. lol

Thanks, that's made me a lot happier. I was just rereading through some of the notes on the phone and noticed there's no HLG HDR support. Which I know will become quite a big deal here in the UK as the BBC is working on using HLG as their future HDR mode. With HLG they would have all their HDR bases covered. Really excited to see Dolby Vision on this thing.

Agreed with the camera bump, I've always disliked that. But what's wrong with iOS 11 and what other innovation would you want to see?

Agreed on the price, it's getting almost too steep for me. I thought Siri has had some major improvements with iOS 11?
Sucks if it doesn't have dual front facing speakers.

As always, you have to get used to it, but I can't wait for the iPad and my iMac to integrate it.

The Surface Pro I bought (mostly) for work has it. Takes a bit but almost always does the trick. iOS is better at mobile devices so I suspect its implementation will be better.
