I've been offered a sealed, 16GB iPhone 4 on trade for my 16GB Ipad (Wifi-only model)/Apple case/Connection Kit.

Who's getting the better deal, me or the other guy?

It comes locked to a carrier (which I can remedy for $50) but no contract to deal with.

It seems like a good deal to me but maybe I'm missing something...thoughts?

retail on an iPhone is $599, retail on the iPad is $499. Add in the case and connection kit and you're almost even. I think it's a fair trade, especially since the iphone is sealed.

It's about how you look at it, he gets what he wants you get what you want. The resell on an iPad is about $380-400, sometimes as low as $350 since refurbs as $429. Add in your case and CCK for an extra $20 apiece and you target range is now $420-$440 for a descent sale.

Thanks. That's pretty much how I calculated it but wanted a second opinion.

I'd say it's a good deal, the old iPads will drop in price when the new model is out.

It is only a good deal if it is something you want
Value is not just measured in monetary resale amount

That, and it's hard to place value on something the needs a monthly payment to fully function and something that doesn't.

Thanks all.

I'm definitely in need of a new phone (and the iPhone will be my first of its kind). Just wanted to make sure it was a reasonably affordable way to get one without losing too much vs. a cash sale of iPad.
