Intriguing that it has a strap. In Apple's video I thought it was a snap closure to prevent the phone from falling out. I guess the strap solves the problem of where to put the sleeve when you use the phone and it could help you get the phone out of your pocket.

There's also a pocket inside the sleeve to hold 1 card.

In Apple's description of the sleeve it doesn't explicitly say that it would work with Qi wireless chargers, while for the leather case it does.

It's more expensive than I thought at $129.

Honestly, not a fan at all. Even if it were $29.99, I wouldn’t like it. But to each his own.

And my guess it’ll get a ring imprint on it from MagSafe use.
Probably would also get a ring imprint.

Why don't you like it, or you don't like sleeves in general?

Not for phones. I use my phone frequently. I wouldn’t want to remove and insert with every use. It also increase the chance of a drop when doing so.

Also, it’s more feminine for my taste. And dear Lord, please nobody take offense by that. I’m all for “you do you”. I have a kumquat case which I love, and some think it a woman’s color. So I’m not about that. It’s just my personal taste. You’re a dude that likes phone sleeves? Awesome!

I am going to order one and trial it. I really want to go caseless with my 12 Pro Max this year having enjoyed being caseless with my 11 Pro Max for the last three weeks. For me, the sleeve will be used to transport my phone around only and to charge using MagSafe. When sat at home, or in a bar or whatever, my phone will sit neatly on top of the sleeve for use. I don't envisage every having to hurriedly pull my phone out of the sleeve to answer calls, messages etc as I use my watch for those functions.

Exactly why I am interested in getting a sleeve, whether it is apple or not. Idk about the MagSafe yet, seems like nobody likes it, though I do not charge my phone or watch at night, and usually only charge it once a day.

Awful if you ask me. That lump in the back?... come on! No black leather version.

With the strap we can hang it on a belt loop.

I think it would be too annoying for me, to take it out of the sleeve every time i want to use the phone. And then you have to put the sleeve somewhere...

It’s thinner than I thought it would be when I saw it during the keynote, but I don’t really like the look of the camera bump on the back. I also like that the strap is removable.

If they made it a slight bit thicker and integrated a battery, to make it like a combo sleeve and Smart Battery Case, that would make it many times more useful.

The time viewing window is cool, but it would be more useful if the phone had an always-on display. I am curious at how the phone will work while in the sleeve. How are you supposed to turn it on to see the time while it’s in the sleeve? Is it always on? Does it use a more sensitive Raise to Wake? Is it like the Watch Nightstand Mode where it turns on at a small bit of irregular movement? I’ll be interested in finding out.

I think the idea of the phone magnetically securing itself in the sleeve is cool, and I’m glad you can still charge it through the sleeve. I personally wouldn’t get it if I had a 12, but I’m sure some people will.

What do you think of wearing and using the strap on a belt loop?

I intend to trial one and i will take the phone out the case when sat down somewhere and rest it on top of the case to protect the back. The issue that i have with cases and i am as guilty as everyone else is that we spend weeks contemplating what colour phone to get and then smother it with something like a plum case so we never get to see the original colour of the phone lol

None of us know how the time display works. It may be that its always on. No doubt there is some trickery in the iOS coding to detect when the MagSafe sleeve is being used.

I realize that nobody knows. I was just expressing my curiosity at how it will work. I believe somebody from Apple spoke in an interview and MagSafe and other iPhone 12 features. She said that the iPhone 12 has an always-on NFC reader or something? So it detects when it’s placed in the sleeve.

Just watched some first unboxing of the sleeve. Must say that I was looking forward to some unique cababilities that the sleeve could bring yet I was dissapointed that it acutaully doesnt have any:
No always on. (To wake the phone you have to tap the time cut-out or raise)
No protection over the time cut-out (would have been nice to have it be glass at this price-point)
No special notifications displayed on the cut-out (just the time).
Even when you wake the phone the whole screen is on not just the part where the cut out it.
So yeah.. just a bunch of leather and some magnets
