Given the great feedback that so many of you guys provide I thought I might ask what you thought of my logo. Any ideas or suggestions would be very welcome.

This was produced in Photoshop - but I guess I should really be re-producing it in something vector based.

There is also a link to the site it will be used on.

I like the logo - but I don't see why you need the icon in front it's joust redundant - but the icon can be used as an alternative short version of the logo.

I agree with Cleopatra, you could use one or the other, they just don't loook right together.

If being critical, I'm not too keen on the black outline on the left, maybe get rid of that and just keep the white fill? then make sure you place on a dark(ish) background. You could then change the "Image" to white, and it will all blend in nicely. Only my thoughts though ...

yeh looks good, how about something a bi more modern looking though?
like shinier and shadows etc?

something like this maybe?

what you reckon?

Web 2.0 isn't always better.
The point of it is probably the sort of clean and uncomplicated style but the original logo here aleady has that.

just my input, he can choose to take it or leave it. your views on web 2.0 are irrelevant, especially seing as web 2.0 is nothing to do with logo design.

Very true! I think that logo is great. Although obviously a shortened version like the OP made would go well when needed. Hot tip: Gradients are in!

hah :D

especially seing as web 2.0 is nothing to do with logo design.

Gradients, shadows and reflections applied as such are commonly referred to as Web 2.0 logos from what I've seen.
(Regardless of what Web 2.0 actually defines).

dude go to the next Web 2.0 conference, which i think is actually now in SF. see if logos or graphic design comes up once! web 2.0 is all about data driven websites aswell as communities and new interactivity.

Either way, it's all just fluff. A logo needs to work well without the gimmick of the week treatment.

If I see another logo with a reflection under it I think I'm going to puke.

There's no need to argue. :)
I said regardless of what Web 2.0 actually means in my previous post! I'm aware of what Web 2.0 is!

It's just that logos of that style are generally found on such sites.
Here's an example of what I mean: Corporate World Web 2.0 Logo redesign

I'm sorry, Apple Architect, for derailing your thread somewhat. :(
Good luck with the logo!

The gradient/reflection thing dates way too quickly and doesn't even look that good. And especially can't be used as a 2-color logo in print. I'd recommend staying away from faddish internet-based trends.

Putting aside grads and refelctions, you need to nail the size and positioning of 'Xposed', 'Image' and '.com'.

Your first design threw in the letters X and I as well, so I read it as 'XI Xposed Image.com'. Plus, X and I make a pretty good Roman Numeral as well, so I'd be thinking of just sticking with the two names and .com.

.com seems to be a little bit relegated on the those logos as well. It's going to scale down badly on business cards etc.

Can you give us 3 or 4 designs with different layouts and typefaces?

its a logo for his photography site? who said anything about scalling for business cards and other uses?

I like it... clean.
However, it looks like two logos together... can have the "XI" as a logo, and the name as an alternate logo.
Nice though.

Second!

Reflections are the new black! But I ask, what was wrong with the old black?

It wasn't reflective enough. Duh! :)

Reminds me of that Strongbad email where he goes through the steps of how to make a logo. I think what we're missing here is a good set of fangs. I mean seriously, any logo looks better if you add fangs to it.
