When listeing to music using headphones how does it compare? I don't have a previous iPhone to compare.
 
It sounded to me like it might be a little crisper and cleaner, but it's hard to tell for sure. At any rate, it was the same or possibly a teeny bit better. Definitely wasn't worse.

I felt the same way listening to it in my car via the dock connector. I definitely wasn't looking for it, I just noticed randomly.
 
I was just remarking this to my wife this morning. I was listening at my work yesterday and I noticed the music was cleaner than I remember with my Touch and iPhone 3G...

Same on mine.

I think it has more to do with encoding than hardware playback.
 
It is crisper and cleaner that the 3GS through decent headphones.The ipad is IMO slightly smoother sounding than iphone 4 through headphones
