Docs are so comfy! I wear some Kyle moc boots everyday to work with khakis and they are more comfortable than sneakers. If you are wearing pants with these, id say go for it as it will hide some of the "ugly" and you will be walking on air.

Get a pair of weejuns, sebago dock sides, or if you have the cash-spring
for some Quoddy moccasins.

All of them last forever, feel better with age, and look better with age. If not get a pair of gum sole chukkas. The natural crepe sole is super comfy.

Interesting so many people think Docs are comfortable. I always thought they were far too heavy and the soles far too hard with no padding inside for the insoles.
