This was my son's MBP before I got him a new one. These screen blemishes have been there since I took it from him. I always assumed if was the LCD or the glass. Looks like scuffs but they are under the glass (I think?) between the glass and LCD. I also thought maybe liquid damage? Then I saw a thread here recently about keyboard scratches on the screen glass from a tight closure? They aren't too troubling with most bright background colors. You can see them mostly with black. See below, looks like a straight scuff line with a half circle coming off the bottom of the first portion of it. Any ideas?

Hmmm...I think that could be a reasonable speculation. He got this MBP as a high school student and then used for the first two years of college....so lots of backpacks. Could be that something was between the screen and keyboard with a lot of weight on the lid. (looks like sunglasses?).

I was hoping it was just the glass and on the outside. Too bad the screen/LCD replacement is so difficult. It's really the only thing I haven't done to this machine. I would pay someone to do it, but it's not worth the money for a machine this old.
