What do you think Apple will reveal at WWDC 2008. Will they release the iPhone before WWDC since there are so many shortages with still a month 'till the event? This will leave the whole conference for completely redesigned Macbook Pros and Macbooks. Or will they release both the Macbooks and the 3G iPhone together (in concordance with that "landmark event in more ways that one" poster)?

Post your thoughts below and also add other possibilities for product releases like a new .Mac or even *gasp* a Mac Mini.

i think they will announce the iPhone but maybe not new macs. but if they do come with new macs it should have a blu-ray player in it since the format war is over.

sorry don't know how to make a poll

You figured it out cool :)

1. Look back at Leopard. Leopard sales numbers whatnot

2. Look at iphone 2.0. software available in couple hours

3. Look at app store and new programs available.

4. release the 3G iphone immediately in USA and some other countries with availability ramping up in remaining countries into August/September

5. New product releases following into end of June (notebook updates including the air).

People will go oooh, aahhh, clap, make noise, and melt their credit cards buying new products.

Is the Jobs keynote going to be on the 9th or 10th? Do we know yet?

As for my speculation of what's going to happen, I'm guessing just the 3G iPhone, sales/market-share overviews, and 2.0 release/overview.

1. Review of Leopards release - X% of people upgraded

2. Review of iPhone/Touch sales

3. Release of final SDK

4. Release of 2.0 for the iPhone and Touch. Probably bring some third party developers on stage to show of some of the big name apps that will appear on the App Store.

5. Announce the 3G iPhone (Apple are running down the stocks of the current version, but the new device is going to be running 2.0 so these have to be released more or less together). Availability will be almost immediately.

6. Announce details of of OS X 10.6 (tell us that it is called Lynx or House Cat). Target release date will be around WWDC09. The big push this time will be on resolution independence and perhaps moving to a new file system. Early Beta available for developers.

7. Have MicroSoft bod on stage to lie about how they are continuing support for the Mac platform.

8. Follow up MicroSoft bod with Steve showing off the new improved iWork package that makes Office redundant on the Mac :D

Probably see a couple of events into september that will launch the new restyled MacBook Pros. ACDs will be refreshed once the cost of LED backlit panels come down by about 50%.

Does anyone think there's a chance we see a preview of 10.6 ?

I'd like to see Apple expand the capabilities of .Mac and the AppleTV

I expect a slightly lighter iPhone with 3G, double memory and possibly GPS.
Maybe the 80GB Air HD will be bumped to 160GB.
Speed bumped MBPs and Minis.
Cheaper ACDs with optional iSight.

1. Announce Leopards related figures. (People upgrading to MAC, sales of OS 10.5)

2. Announce iPods related figures. (Number of iPods sold, graph comparison etc.)

3. iPhone figures, graphs comparison.

4. Talk about iPhone SDK then releasing it.

5. Probably .MAC?

6. Leopard development talk.

7. Then, unveiling the long-awaited 2nd gen iPhone fact-sheets.

8. Probably the new revamped notebooks.

No iPhone at WWDC but instead the 16th of may :)

Mention the iPhone SDK, and release a beta of Mac OS X 10.6.

They aren't going to release new MacBooks/MacBook Pros at a developers conference, and Intel isn't going to let them have the chips that early, that'll wait until the end of July.

The new iPhone will be released before WWDC, they've run out of stock and they wouldn't have predicted demand that badly if it wasn't until WWDC.

The main focus is going to be development for the iPhone as the platform of the future, IMO. Possibly a release date for the 2nd gen iPhone but not the phone itself. I think the "more ways than one" refernece is to the iPhone as a new platform for development, no longer just the traditional paradigm.

I see the current shortage indicating demand outstripping supply more Ghana cutting of production. My local Apple Store has always had trouble keeping stock available. They'd get 50 in on Tuesday and they'd be out by the weekend on a regular basis. I guess we just have to stay tu we until new-release Tuesday to see if the current shortage truly is indicitive of a new iPhone release.
