iPad What do you think will happen with the iPad 2 this year?

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on whether Apple will keep the iPad 2 around when the iPad 6 comes out later this year or if Apple will replace it with the iPad 5 or something else, i.e iPad 5c with a polycarbonate body and iPad 5 internals...

iPad 2 is not dead just yet... Apple might unload all unused iPad 2 to school and 3rd world and give them for prize.

It's a terrific device and was a HUGE upgrade over the first gen unit. But, as always, it's starting to get close to its sell by date so to speak. Still plenty useful but eventually will succumb to newer app demands and such.

From the news article released recently the iPad 2 is still technically in production, although at a much slower pace. It'll still be for sale until the next iPad revision later this year. After that the iPad 2 will be dropped from the current lineup.

The original iPad Mini, though, is harder to predict. Apple could definitely keep it around and sell it for that $199 price point as the entry level iPad and discontinue the iPad Mini Retina in place of a faster model much like they did with the iPhone 5<5S. The iPhone 4S is practically guaranteed to get iOS 8, and considering the original iPad Mini is sporting the same hardware, will receive the update as well and would allow it to continue to be sold.

I think they are going to give it a lightning connector and ditch the 30- pin. Nothing else is going to change I think.

Kind of crappy company policies by discontinuing the 4 when the air came out to make the air look so much better than the available 2.

If they want to sell their ancient products to make their current ones look wonderful that's up to them. Starting to sound like a crappy company by choosing this business practice.

They need to lower the price to meet the competition or make their product a lot better, not just marginally.
