What do you use/intend to use your M1 Mac for?

For me, it’s general computing stuff: Browsing, YouTube, email etc.

I‘m upgrading because I’m coming from an ageing 2008 iMac.

I used to be into photography.

In fact, it was my iMac that got me into it. I had this beautiful machine, that I wanted to fully utilise.

I have a 12 Pro Max, so I may get into iPhonography, using my new M1 MBP for editing.

My passion was always street photography, but I’m very drawn to conceptual photography, so it could be a whole new challenge for me. This is what I love about Apple hardware: It almost teases you to be creative with it.

Similar, I was an early user of video editing and I had one of the first available DVD -RW in the UK in a PC. It required a dedicated video card in the PC made by Matrox. However it was not very reliable - I had a 50% success rate on burning a disk. A couple of years later I was in John Lewis in the UK (before Apple Stores existing) and a salesman demonstrated iDVD running on a PowerMac, I was blown away and bought one the same day. That was 2002 and I have been using Macs ever since. Photography wise I enjoy Landscape and Portrait photography, although I mainly due landscape these days.

Upgrading from 2012 Mac Mini i7 BTO / CTO server.

Remote desktop support for my clients, dual displays, productivity software (Office, Adobe), Chrome web browsing, web network traffic, WLAN status, etc...
