Hello all, I'm just wondering which MacBook Pro you got, I have a Mid 2017 and if you had any issues with it. And what do you use it for.

Thanks ;)

Made a thread like this a while ago. Haha

Depends on the model

Older models I have used on the road, or away from office/home typing, I love the 2008 keyboard for some reason.
I have previously used old models for the same purposes as today, but the same software and applications tend to pull more now than they used to.

Ever since moving onto i5

Photoshop for image editing, cropping but I have been finding myself using the Mac photo editor more and more. So intuitive, and I only went with photoshop because of using it on desktop, but for basic stuff and overlays, the editor works great.

Sony Vegas for video editing

Traktor, Maschine, Ableton for sound and music production dabbling, more of a hobby, but instead of building yet another Digital Audio Workstation again, I just dock my mb and this way I can still take my stuff to the music studio with friends who do this for a living, rarely happens but its' fun to have the versatile power and mobility.

I love the macbook because it often runs with my motu soundcard much better, latency is always low, its' hard to get the same level of performance from a PC.

I rarely use them to browse because I tend to do the millions tabs on my desktop with plenty of ram.

(never splurged for i7's due to various throttling issues)

I have 2 at the moment, a base 2016 MBP15 with a 512GB drive, and a 2018 MBP13 upgraded with an i7, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB drive. I plan to sell the MBP15 after I let Apple decide if it needs keyboard work. The MBP15 replaced a 2009 8-core Mac Pro and mid-2012 MBA13 early last year (I was running a virtualized multi-server Windows server development environment on the MP).

I use it for photo editing with Lightroom and Acorn, light video rendering using RaceRender with multiple 1080p 60fps sources, a Windows VM so that I can run AiM Race Studio Analysis and VCDS, office productivity apps, and web browsing.

For my needs and now that a 4-core CPU is available in the MBP13, a small form factor is more useful than a larger screen and dedicated GPU. The MBP15 is a little clumsy when I am sitting in a folding chair at the racetrack. I just bought a 32" LG 4k monitor for those times when I need mass quantities of screen real estate.

edit: I have a 16TB NAS and I removed the upgraded 512GB SSD from the MBA prior to selling it and installed it into a bus powered USB3 external enclosure that I take with me, so 512GB of internal storage works just fine for me.

Just upgraded to a 2018 15" (i9, 32GB, 560X, 1TB). Now that the dust has settled after the initial outcry with the thermal issues, I can say it's a fine machine and a solid improvement over the previous models. I have been through a couple 2016/2017 top case replacements, so knocking on wood for butterfly v3, but got AppleCare for good measure anyway.

Professionally, I am a scientist and use the computer mainly for intensive number crunching, running numerical simulations, coding, reading and writing technical papers. In my spare time, it's mostly amateur photo and video editing. Plus, obviously, mundane tasks such as browsing and media consumption which any laptop could do.
