1) 5G Network
2) 4K OLED Display
3) Pro Motion
4) Fast Charger 18W Adaptor
5) USB-C Connector
6) For Bigger Screen - Split View Multi-Tasking (Related to iOS)
7) 3D Sensor Rear Camera
8) 960FPS Slow-Mo

These are some of the features I feel should be there. I'm sure not all can't be a part of it, that would only increase the price. But points no 1/3/4/5/6 can definitely fit in all together.

Lot of people posted so many threads they were not happy with the new iPhone XS Max. And I see this thread empty. I thought they will take it out all here and so even we learn what's missing.

I personally loved the upgrade and the only missing feature I would loved to have right now was ProMotion, regardless of that, it's a great upgrade.

Well it certainly looks like those who were not happy with iPhone XS have no idea what they really want.

A price drop. This is getting insane now.

And if they don’t price drop the 2019 max should be 128GB base.

I think price won't come down. It will only go higher.

Think of it this way as a MacBook line up.

You won't buy MacBook Pro unless you are some graphic designer, video/photo editing or into 3D etc.

For commercial there's MacBook Air & MacBook.

This is exactly what Apple is trying to do with iPhones. Their Flagship iPhones are not going anywhere down even when it comes to features and price. If you compare MacBook Pro with other laptops, at the same price you get a lot more configuration compared to what MBP offers.

iPhone Flagships are going to get costly and we are very use to buy the Flagship iPhones. But things will change now. iPhone XR category will take the lead for commercial use at the price of 850-999USD making iPhone Flagships even more expensive.

If you think Apple was trying to capture more Market Share through iPhone XR then no, that's clearly not what they want. They want to be the best in technology with highest profit because as Tim Cook said "We always thought ... that if you provide a lot of innovation and a lot of value, there is a segment of people who are willing to pay for it,"

I am disgusted at Apple this year, no new features, just a faster cpu, it seem like they ran out of ideas.

I mean XS price is just stupid, the XR is a rip off with the lcd display, the Max is just disappointing...
No Pro Motion, no new improvements to the Face ID, just feel like they are dumping their excess iPhone X screens.

Also the battery life is a total joke, nothing new, no fast charging out of the box, Samsung is literally ahead of the hardware game and iOS is slowly becoming futile.

Usb-c. 128GB base storage. Ability to choose default apps. Numbers on top row of keyboard! More visually appealing notification panel.

Honestly at the prices the lack of a fast charger and headphone jack adapter is just ********. If anything they should drop the ****** EarPods.

Things I would like to see:
  • 120 Hz display refresh rate. Will take a while for OLED tech to get there though so I would not expect this in 2019 either.
  • Higher display resolution for the XR. LCD is fine there.
  • Notch removed.
  • Slightly smaller bezels.
  • 128 GB base storage on XS Max at least to make it a better value.
The rest is software.

Of course I would like lower prices but Apple won't do that.

No notch.
Lower price.
128GB base model.
Pro Motion.
Reduced Bezels.
Lower Camera Aperture.
Fast charging cable in the box.
Horizontal Face ID.

1 and 2 are defiantly not going to happen next year maybe 2020.

5 is a pipe dream.

Personally I just want promotion and a depth of less than 7.1 mm. Would love 4k on an iPhone though.

I’m not really sure what they can do next year in terms of hardware. Notch reduction? In-screen fingerprint sensor?

From a software standpoint:

1) SPLIT SCREEN APPS. For the love of all things holy, let me run video and an app at the same time. So ridiculous at this point.

2) iOS dark mode

Why is everyone so hellbent on USB-C on the iPhone? It is not as good as lightning. It is thicker, doesn’t lock into place like lightning, Unauthorized cables not built to standard can fry devices. NO THANKS!

MacBook Pro has 4 USB-C and it charges like a dream. It's so quick that I have no words. I think USB-C is quicker than using 12W power adaptor + lightning cord for iPhone X which supports 7.5W fast charging.

USB-C is easier to connect, stays in place better than Lightning and the cables are not as flimsy as Lightning cables. Plus since it is used in Android phones it means finding a charger when you are at a friend's place will be eventually easier as more people move to USB-C based phones. Proprietary connectors are only good for Apple's bottom line.

Smart phone innovation in general has slowed. I'm upgrading this year from the X to the XS Max sheerly for the size. If there was no Max, I don't think I'd have upgraded to the XS.

Personally I'd like to see even slimmer bezels. Incredible battery life. Screen quality is already amazing; I don't see the benefit of a 4K screen on a phone this size when I already can't see individual pixels. Camera improvements would be great; it's usually the first thing I look for in product announcements. And while this is more of a software thing, I'd like my smart phone to be smarter. I want notification profiles that I can set to be based on location and/or my calendar.

If I could be nostalgic for a moment, mostly what I miss is the sense of awe and excitement about everything technology related. Back in the early 2000s when my friends and I all had PowerBooks and Motorola RAZRs and Sony-Ericsson T-610s, we got together at Panera or at one of our houses and surfed the web together. We blogged together. Those giant (by comparison) laptops brought us closer and gave us something to talk about. That technology has miniaturized to the point that it's not physically separating us when we're in the same space, but the smaller size hasn't brought us closer together either.

I guess I want to feel excited about tech again. I want it to bring me and my friends closer. Maybe that ship has sailed because nothing is amazing anymore. Maybe the next big thing is just around the corner. Right now the market has matured so much that nothing is that exciting. Next year, I think I'm going to need a really big halo feature to upgrade.

Prediction: Apple will be rolling out whatever their billion dollar video subscription service is. Therefore the next iPhone will be focused on the display. They’re going to need people watching lots of content on iPhones.

I’d like to see Apple break out of the incremental upgrade mode on all of these products. They have an opportunity to do something really revolutionary, perhaps combining the power of iPhones/AppleTVs/Apple Watch...

Regardless, while I’d love to see some fresh innovation out of Apple next year, I realistically expect another incremental spec upgrade with focus on the screen as per above.
