There's been enough debating about the possibility of an Apple Tablet, or a video iPod, or an Apple PDA, or a digital deli slicer as of late to make my head spin.

What I want to know, is not what you think Apple will make, but what you want Apple to make. It could be an iPod designed to project your likeness, and only your likeness to everybody that buys one (although that would be very odd).

So what do you want from Apple?

i want a full-powered mini tablet that has built in bluetooth cell phone, so you can just use one of those wireless headsets. the tablet would function both as a laptop and a PDA, a small touchscreen keyboard could appear when you wanted it. all fully syncable with your other stuff... and airport extreme enabled, definitely.

but i think as a product it would fail.

I like the idea of having the bluetooth cellphone. It would make it less of a hassle talking on a huge lcd panel like the current palmpilot like cell phones. Make it a nice color "pocket PC" form factor, but have bluetooth peripherals, like a mini keyboard and stuff. When in phone mode, there should be an on screen, "iPhone" app that lets you dial numbers manually, or from the address book. Have it automatically sync to your home computer or laptop with bluetooth or airport exrtreme. Have it run an OS similar to the look and feel of OSX. Just like that mini computer from OQO that never panned out. Put a fast G3 processor in it, and maybe it could run the full Mac OS. If it could take notes with a keyboard, and provide basic web surfing etc I would probably rather have that than a laptop, or possibly have a 17" powerbook for semi portability, and take the iPad around all the time, provided the battery lasts long.

This is a pretty tough call to fit all of these things into such a small package. I hope if Apple makes such a device, that they execute it well, and make it sell, like the iPod. Oh, and it would have to have a large hard drive and possibly play MP3s, sync with iPhoto and quicktime to watch movies on it's widescreen display.

iPorn, plain and simple, Dave Chapelle could even advertise it. Digital Pleasure Device

iCamera...

I'm currently in the market for a digital camera, but the only thing holding me back is the expensive storage. If Apple made an iPod-like camera with hard drives instead of compactflash (etc.), 3 or 4 megapixels, 1.5-2.0 inch color lcd on back, firewire, decent battery, ability to take video clips, decent price ($1000, maybe?), and small size with sexy looks, I would be the first customer! Basically, add a lens and a color lcd to the current iPod. :D wishful thinking....

A digital camera with a hard drive would be very cool.

Did you know that Apple had a line of digital cameras way back when? They went the way of the Newton, a little before the Newton went its way. They were the Apple QuickTakes (100, 150, and 200). I've never seen one, but I've heard that they were very cool and well-built.

I'd like a light up keyboard for my mac like the light up one for the 17" powerbook. Not revolutionary, but certainly cool and it would finally be worth the 60 buck price tag that apple keyboards go for these days.

I just want them to make a video iPod, possibly with bluetooth, and with cell phone features...

All that, just still nice and small...

That would be great, but i dont think that its possible to do that and keep it pocket sized, but u never know.

P.S. An iPorn wouldent hurt either...

i bought a quicktake 200 recently just to play with... its sitting here on my desk...

very well designed, very intuitive. slow and clunky by today's standards, but i would still take it with me... 640x480 pictures...

i wish it had zoom, but this was a long time ago. does have a 1.8" color screen tho... that was definitely ahead of it's time...

i like the idea of having the ability to burn via a fwire CD-RW drive.

there is no purpose to bluetooth UNLESS:
they allow fwire optical drives - then it could use a mobile to access the internet for CDDB, other than that there is no purpose. you just want every portable standard you can think of in one device.

A home stereo component that streams my itunes library with a remote that has an LCD which can scoll and access the library in an ipodish way.

A build as you go PDA/portable device system. Ala- Newton (but closer to the eMate300) and Lego’s combined.

I would love to see the iPod become more than a MP3 player and HD. I would like it to become the modular heart and brain for a slew of digital devices. Need a camera, just slide it onto the end of your iPod for digital storage. Need a digital recorder, the same. Need a PDA, just flip the hopefully slimmer iPod over and look, there is an integrated screen with the InkWell technology. Need a semi-lap top for school or work. Just slide the iPod into a clamshell like device that has a screen and a keyboard. I love my eMate, it’s still a functional computer, lightweight, robust, and it’s just great. The only problem is the same one that many devices have- proprietary batteries that can’t be changed easily. Ditch the stupid batteries and give me something that can use off the shelf batteries as well as proprietary batteries.

Lastly, like the eMate300 and OS9. Make it disability friendly. I know it will take time for developers to fill all of the needs of its users, but out of the box- a computer that helps people with different needs.

If we are going to shoot for the moon here (or perhaps Mars), make it look cool.

That sounds like a great idea. I've never thought about a touch screen keyboard. That would really be awesome.

I would like to see an Apple cell phone with PDA and iPod features. I'm not sure if it would sell good or not, though.

I would like.

smaller than a i/power book.
dvd drive (doesn't have to be dvd-r, i just want to rip my dvd's.)
touch screen
60 gig Hard drive
at least 256 megs ram
the new low power g4
itunes 4 - with mp4 ripping for cd's & dvd's

Basically i want a device that will rip music & movies so i can cart them around with me. Then i would go to music stores, and ask to "listen" to a bunch of stuff, and really I'll be making lots of high quality mp4 rips of everything! *drool.* haha! just kidding. Not about the device though.
