What does calibrating your battery do?

Every time I have done it it made the MA/h drop? what is up with that?

it doesnt do anything to battery life well at least it shouldnt. what its doing is resetting the "sensor" inside that supplies the information about how much battery life you have, cycles, health, ect ect.
