What does "cleaning" mean... noticed this after upgrading to 5.1

Note the Facebook icon... it says "cleaning.." under it. What is this?

As a side note, I hadn't updated the Facebook app any time recently, so its not like it had just finished installing.

It has been around since 5.0 and it's apps cleaning out temp files and cache to make iCloud backups smaller and probably keep apps from getting bogged down. I've noticed facebook and twitter doing it.
