Well, if you are happy with the deal then it's good. That is all what matters. I might have sold the MB and put the money towards a new MBP but if you wanted a 15" MBP but can't afford the new ones, then it sounds decent.

I can buy one of the new ones but I dont need it. Plus, I wanted to get rid of my mb right away so it saved me some hassle
 
sounds like a good deal to me. i sold a 2007 white macbook for $500, put another $500 with it and got a perfect condition, used late 2008 unibody 15" mbpro 2.8ghz. i love it, except for the screen flickers when the power is switched to better battery life. i put a brand new battery in it and it gets around 3 hours. so that parts not so great. other than that, it's awesome!

What was the original msrp on my new mbp back in 08? I can't find info on it

I don't remember anymore & I could be wrong, but I think that model (MB471LL/A) is something like $2,499 USD. :eek:
 
I have that exact model mbp that I picked up on cowboom a few months back for $909, so yeah I think you are getting a fair deal. :)
