What does "Other" mean...

Is restored from an iTunes backup last night and noticed on the list of what's on my iPhone that "Other" had about 1.5GBs.

Is this iOS? I restored from backup when I got my iPhone 6 so I just wanted to make sure I wasn't carrying any garbage data.

"Other" is memory used by the phone during it normal operation. It will vary and not much you can do about it.
