What does the Hermes Watch exist for?

As per the title, why does the Hermes Watch exist besides the obvious collaboration? Is it the replacement to the gold S0 as a luxury watch, or is it something else?

Only difference besides the band is a few exclusive faces; it’s designed for luxury brand association for those who care (Hermes stuff including the Apple bands is generally very high quality, but no more functional than other things costing a quarter of the price).

I am old but not ashamed. I know little about Hermes except the god from history. Don’t believe in paying extra for a brand name unless it is better. They had a lot of leather bands but not into them.

The watch itself is nothing, Hermes bands goes for a few hundred dollar each and you got people with 20 or 30 of them, just go check out the Hermes thread, people spend more money on the band than the watch itself.

I would guess it is a “status symbol”. Some of the bands look nice, others, not.
