Hello

Occasionally my mini makes a quiet little "pop" like a cork out of a bottle.

What does it mean? I havent spotted it occuring with web page loads, its not new e-mail thats a different noise and much louder. I think its from the mini's internal speaker rather than the ones I have plugged in.

It doesnt bother me much its so quiet, and most of the time I have the radio on so I dont here it anyway..

Or is it all in my head, the mini is so quiet that I'm starting to imagine noises? Maybe its my cat sat under the desk again, although his snoring is usually louder.

Do you have Skype running?
I hear that little "popping cork" sound when a contact comes online…

But if it is that little electric pop… more like a "tick" than a "pop" :D that is caused by a lack of electromagnetic shielding like when your fridge kicks in or someone turns on a light…

No skype or anything like that.

Only had it for 10 days, Its sat near my monitor and next to my network router, which is low voltage anyway, so I wouldn't have expected much interference.

 -> System Preferences -> Sound -> Sound Effects

Temporarily change the alert sound to "pop". It should sound right away. Is that the sound you're hearing?

Yes Thats it!

But extremely quiet. the normal alert chime or glass ding can be heard really clearly over things. The pop isn't loud at all and its taken me a while to realise that its there.

If this is the noise I'm thinking of I wouldn't mind knowing that too!

I've had my macbook 6 months and still not figured out what it is lol
