What does this quote mean to you?

Everyone says love hurts, but that isn't true. Loneliness hurts. Rejection hurts. Losing someone hurts. Envy hurts. Everyone gets these things confused with love, but in reality love is the only thing in this world that covers up all pain and makes someone feel wonderful.

A series of chemical reactions in the brain that produce an effect that is almost euphoric. It is a drug. A drug that we can produce on our own when influenced by certain stimuli and are told it is good and we need it. We are born and are given love by our mothers, we are addicted right then and there. We spend our lives seeking it whether we are aware of that fact or not. When love is taken from us our body goes into withdrawal. We feel down, we hurt emotionally, we act irrationally until we eventually learn to live with the loss of the source of love, or we find another source. If someone says they don't like love or speaks badly about it we scoff and call them edgy and stupid and disagree with their opinions. Love is a drug and everyone is an addict.

I've heard it said that love is a decision, not an emotion. In some sense, I think that's true.

Now I've gone and taken this thread seriously. How many demerits is that? ;)

I don't agree with it. When you lose someone you love, it hurts. The love has not left and is at the heart of the pain, since without love we would react differently to breakups, death, etc. One will not react the same to the death of a stranger vs the death of a loved one. I think Queen Elisabeth 2 said it best, "Grief is the price we pay for love."

You know how married guys are always saying his wife is the most beautiful woman in world? That quote reminds me of THAT sort of thinking.

Every time I heard a guy say, "To the most beautiful woman in the world...my wife..." I always turn to MY wife. I look here straight in the eyes and ask, "I wonder what you really look like?":D

Love hurts when she told you that she is a virgin so you married her. And after a few months, you then found out that she has a 17 year old kid.
