I was looking around and came accross *639# and when texed it it said this...

As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and waive the $18 upgrade fee.

But when my wife did it she got a text that said she only gets a discounted price... What I don't understand is the phones are in her name and if I get a the 3gs for $200 she should too...

phone your carrier's customer services department and ask them.

I assume it means your usage of the phone has already paid off the subsidy for that phone, but hers hasn't.
