I have an early 2011 15 MBP with 2GHz i7 chip.

Recently Ive found in some cases its slowed down a lot and I get the beach ball. This tends to be when i'm working in XCode and running a few things.

So I updated my Ram to 16GB which helped for a little while. Im just about to replace my HDD with an SSD.

However i am wondering if there is anything else I should be looking at to speed things up.

Thanks

SSD! Will improve so much and pretty much Ram and SSD are the top two things that actually work.

Thanks. SSD is tomorrows project (after backup of course)

Ive seen that you can overclock chips, is this something worth while ?

Have you run activity monitor to see what is using resources? While the memory and SSD will do a lot it's always better to track down the real bottleneck.
