Right now I'm using a 1600 x 900 20" external monitor with my rMBP 13" (2014). The actual size of the monitor and text size is *perfect* for me. But after getting used to the fantastic retina screen on my MacBook Pro, the low resolution of the monitor is like a dagger in my eyes.

I know there are plenty of high resolution monitors that are 24" and larger, but I want to stick to 20". Can anyone recommend a 20" monitor with higher resolution that would maintain the text size as is on this 20" 1600 x 900 monitor?

Thank you in advance!

- No. What you're looking for isn't possible.
A 20" at a higher resolution will have a higher PPI and therefore smaller UI elements. Unless you use a scaled resolution, which will look terrible, or am able to source a 3200x1800 20" on which you could use pixel doubling - but I doubt that exists.
