What External Hard Drive for Video/Picture editing?

I'd like to get a little into video and picture editing.... seeing as I have a SSD, I figure I should get an external to handle my video and pictures. Please advise on what size and which brand I should purchase. USB vs Firewire 800? Thanks for advice.

Can you hold on for a little longer? Thunderbolt lacies on the way... or so they say.
If not those, I would probably make a raid with either SSDs or hi rpm drives.

If you need one now then your best option is FireWire 800 Raid; something like this.

Macs still only have USB 2, (until Ivy Bridge - when Intel will provide native support), otherwise a USB 3 drive would have been better, (Thunderbolt is prohibitively expensive at the mo).

I'm really just interested in trying it out. Nothing "too" serious.... I don't want to spend more than like $200 on an external...

I think this one looks pretty good. Thoughts?

edit: Any tips on setting this up as well for max performance for what I have?
