What firmwares and versions are unlockable/jailbreakable?

I have tried searching google, but didn't find what I was looking for. I am planning on buying an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s. I currently have T-Mobile and I need to know what firmwares & versions are unlockable so I know what to look for when I buy the phone. Please help me & thanks in advance :)
