Obviously I know where my own data is and so can back it up (eg documents folder, the pictures folder), but are there other folders I should be backing up which also might have data in them? eg I know DevonThink keeps it's database somewhere in the Library I think.

Thanks

:D

yeah - but that's nearly 30Gb!! (I've got FCE) :D lol
I can exclude some folders to get it down to something more reasonable.

But the main thing I want to be reassured is that there's no critical data in any folder outside of my user folders

Nothing vital. All the things you'd need are in your user folder.

Have you thought about a dedicated drive for your movies? It makes a difference.

yeah, that dedicated drive is deffo a good ideas... you could just focus on your music, movies, documents and other things like email, contacts and photos...

that would pare it down... but in the end, just backing up you user directory wll save all these things, but when you want to restore them, you're gonna have to look for them!
