I have an .avi file video i want to burn to a DVD using the Toast program so I can play it in a stand alone DVD player. What format do i want to export the file it can play w/ no problems.
 
im confused. what program are you using?

.vob is deff dvd format

Just select the "DVD Video" option in Toast (as opposed to Divx, VIDEO_TS, etc.) and then drag your AVI into Toast. Toast will do the required encoding and the result will be a DVD which will play in any conventional DVD player.
 
toast should convert it for you once you selected dvd video, not to sure on this if any one else knows that would be helpful
