what free applications are cool?

Some that I use that I really like. For viewing any wmv. files on the mac, Flip4mac. For viewing all other kinds of files, VLC. If you want an Office for mac type application Neo office is good. Adium is pretty good if you use a few different apps for chatting etc. There's also a whole world of dashboard widgets that you can explore although any widgets are memory hogs. For splitting and rejoining files the best one that I've found is Split&Concat which is actually donationware but the best one that I've found out there. That will join anything.

If you want some sweet paid apps you could check out Macheist bundle. pretty cheap. No, I'm not advertising the referral link in my sig. You can use this one if you want.... (but I still haven't gotten any referrals).
