I need some help with purchasing the right cable. Two weeks ago I bought a new Mac Mini but unfortunately it died a couple of days ago :-( I also have a new (late 2008 model) MacBook Pro. I want to boot the Mac Mini into Firewire target mode in order to recover some files. What Firewire cable do I need to do that ie. 6-pin/4-pin, male/female?

Cheers from Denmark,
Jørgen

Actually what you need is a cable that is FireWire 800 (9 pin) male for the MBP Pro end to a FireWire 400 (6 pin) male for the Mac Mini end.

Something like this Belkin one or this Tripp Lite one.
