What good is MyWi 4.0, when all you can connect to is iPad and no other tablet. For all that money to be limited!!

I agree. Not good at all. Drains battery, even when charging! Unreliable. Costs too much money, although I was somewhat able to connect my laptop to it.

TetherMe is far superior, with what, 12 devices on one connection (correct me if I'm wrong)? Plus, since it's Apple's native tethering, it never drains battery when plugged in. Also much cheaper, with a much more reliable SBSettings toggle. Does not need a memory hog daemon running on the background, unlike MyWi.
List goes on and on and on and on...

Where do you get that from that you can only tether to an ipad? Did you bother doing some research?
if you're on 4.2.6 firmware or higher MyWi creates a true hotspot that any device can connect using wifi. Also you can use USB or Bluetooth tethering.

Only if you have an iPhone 4.

You didnt say what kind of iphone or firmware version.
But yes if you're not using an i4 then MyWi will create an adhoc wifi connection that some devices cannot connect to. You can try bluetooth tethering if your device supports it. If not there's no other options at the moment.

Yes, but TetherMe doesnt provide wifi tethering for 3G and 3GS iphones.;)
Just USB and Bluetooth.

True, but if you want to waste 20-30% of your battery in an hour with a 3GS and MyWi, be my guest. It's more worthwhile charging it and using MyWi IMO.

I hear you, but sometimes you're stuck having to use Wifi tethering instead.
I prefer Tetherme also but 3GS and 3G owners dont have the option to wifi tether unless they use MyWi or PdaNet.

I went Best Buy yesterday and tried the Bluetooth tether from MyWi and it didn't connect to any of the android tablets running honeycomb because that's 3.0 Bluetooth. Outta luck there as well.

You're right, MyWi is junk. Happy now?

Look relax, for the money they charge for it, I expected more out of it. It's not junk. But it's a limited app, I use it with my laptop all the time. I'm just disappointed that it didn't work on those other tablets.

That's the point. MyWi is far from perfect but its capabilities are limited by the device it's running on. How is that a MyWi problem?

Look I can set here and split hairs with you, but I'm just upset that because I don't have an i4 I should be penalized with less when I'm paying the same price. You get that!

Yes, I get it. I also get you are complaining to the wrong people. Complain to the MyWi developer. I also 'get it' that no one forced you to buy MyWi. If you didn't think it was worth the money, on your device, why did you buy it? No need to answer these questions, since you clearly see yourself as the victim.

I should learn to stay out of threads like this, since people who start them are simply looking for people to agree with them and not inject any logic into the discussion.

Penalized by Apple not providing the proper drivers for true wifi hotspot for the 3G and 3GS. Not MyWi or PDAnet fault, if they could provide the functionality they would. But you probably still don't get it anyway.

Look maybe I'm not expressing my concerns about this correctly, I enjoy using the app, but I paid full price for something & I'm only getting 1/2 the capability of the app. Hopefully that's alittle clearer. Yes I understand when i4 came out dev's were able to adjust connective with it to suit the attributes of the new device while we 3gs'rs get little in return.

Look you know what ur right should have kept it to myself. Cheers!

Next time do a little more research before you invest a whole $20 for a full price app.
You're not getting 1/2 the capability, that's the capability MyWi always offered since a year and half ago. Nothing more. If you didnt know it who's fault is it?

MyWi-been caught?

Have any of you been sent a message by AT&T? I bought MyWi too, but don't want to get busted. I don't use it often or for a lot of data, but am still concerned... I only use it with my MBP and iPad...

Best 20 bucks i ever spent. no more comcast for 120 bucks, 10 bucks for netflix. we have unlimited data on verizon!

That's another thing. AT&T and soon Verizon (as they're cracking down on Android tether apps as we speak) will be sending those messages to MyWi users only, because they're the easiest to find. TetherMe is superior by far; virtually untraceable, cheap ($2? less than $5), flawless (except one thing - iPhone 4 only).

How can you say stuff like that. It will be MyWi users only getting caught for tethering and tetherme is virtually untraceable?
Seriously? They can figure out MyWi tethering but not TetherMe or PdaNet?
TetherMe is a great package and everything but I dont see how one can be such a diehard fan to be putting out stuff like that. You act like you're the developer who sells it or something:D
