What happen after download MAC OS X Lion?

Hi, What will happen after I download the software update for MAC OS X Lion? Right now I am using 10.6.8 and I want to update to 10.7. After I download the update, can I get the .dmg of MAC OS X Lion? So that I can burn it and create my backup. I am asking this because I haven't tried downloading paid apps. Another question, can I still download Mac os x Lion (purchased) again in Mac App Store?

How to make a bootable Lion install disc or drive

I suggest using a USB2 thumb drive instead of a CD/DVD. It will install so much faster.
