Back in the days i used netscape and had a aol adress, i remember a 14k modem beeing a luxury.Information was given to you directly back then.
So today in 2025 i dont even own a mac anymore, like all other people i have a phone with apps and tablets at home

Yesterday i was looking for a water test report from the local water company so i google the website first, then i click on the adress, safari opens up the website on my laptop, then a video pop ups showing the great water company bla bla, i have to click soo many times to find the latest water report pdf

and the other day i needed to order a trip with the local ferry along the coast. I needed a port to port trip. I find the website and i spend the next 10 minutes without finding port to port trips. I only find full long trips along the coast for tourists, ok so i use google to find the page for me instead

in general the www is now made up of pages filles with-

Moving and spinning icons all over the place ugly screaming colors, like in a cheap clothes shop

The cookies, so sick of these pop ups over the last years, only nerds care about this now.

Hidden «menu» buttons

Video pop ups, who even asked for these

please fill our website survey boxes that pop ups

auto playing video, who invented this

Adverts & Commercials that fills half of the screen or even full screen and are often placed in the background when scrolling down, i understand that websites are built by people who needs money, but still. Its just too much sometimes

why is web design so **** today in 2025?

what happend? Its wasting my time and the time too other humans on this planet i pay for apps and websites, but they still show me adverts, pop ups and videos
will Ai change this and only give me the information that i realy need directly without all this mess?

The World Wide Web has changed, from a pub where hobbyists discuss whimsical thoughts, where academics share eurekas, where ideas spark, where your culture meets my culture, to a living hell of attention grabbing and engagement exploiting. What happened? Monetized, I'd say.
