A few months ago after I bought my Macbook Pro, I vividly remember seeing that I could have bought 4GB of DDR3 ram for my Macbook Pro at several shops for around $60-70. Now, I can't find it lower than $110. Why such the increase? And if someone could give me a link of where to get it cheaply, that would be nice.

Thanks.

I bought 4 GB of Crucial RAM from Amazon on Black Friday, and it cost $89.

Right now it's up to $99, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it drop again just after Xmas.

I've never seen 4GB of RAM for sale anywhere at $60-70 though.

4GB DDR3 was definitely as low as $60 on Newegg with free ship.

I bought 4GB of DDR3 for my Mac mini in June. It cost me £50 (about $80).

The same upgrade from the same place (crucial) is now £78 (about $120).

Bear in mind these prices include our UK sales tax.

I bought two 2GB sticks of DDR3 RAM for my Unibody MBP back in July, and those 4GB of memory only cost me $55. Now, the same exact product is listed as being $108. So yes, RAM prices have definitely gone up.

4GB of DDR2 went between $35-45 this past July. I was hoping there would continue to be a price drop on RAM, but that clearly is not the case. Now the same online retailers sell it between $60-75. I regret not purchasing it in the summer.

Is the same likely to carry on for 4GB DIMMs, to make e.g. a MBP have 8GB RAM? Just wondering if larger DIMMs will go down in price in the next few months, or whether an SSD is better option for performance due to memory price climate

DRAM is notorious for price fluctuation. Prices will always go down in the long term, but short term is very unpredictable.

sorry to add to an old topic but did a search and this seemed the most logical one in which to ask my question

basically i am wondering what sort of price i should be looking at in the UK for a set of 2 x 2GB (4GB) DDR3 RAM for my 13" Mbp?

i have seen really varying prices usually between £85-110 is that normal for the UK?

also where are good places to buy from?

any info from anyone is much appreciated. Thanks. :)

I've seen the OWC kit which is 92$, so 85-110 pounds sounds ok, also try to get a good brand, not random names
